Like I said on Bluesky, the detailing for the seahorse half of this character's body is crazy; I can only imagine how many hours it took to get it looking right.

However, the seahorse tail's detailing is the only thing I like about Sabrinna's appearance. Compared to the other mermaids - like Flan and Zandra - her design is a lot weaker, which in my eyes, is solely rooted in her color scheme.

None of the colors chosen here really mesh well together, at least in my opinion. When I look at her, my eyes constantly switch between observing her bright pink hair and the somewhat bright yellow seahorse tail; their hues clash with each other a lot, which makes things visually cluttered.

The black shirt does mitigate this issue to an extent - by providing some negative space for the colors - yet it's a tad too small to be effective in that way.

Overall, Sabrinna has some potential, but her design leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks!!

Personally i really liked the palette, i don't think the vivid colors clash, since she doesn't have many colors competing for attention, but i guess it all comes down to personal taste! :)

Wow, the presentation is absolutely stunning. The heavy use of harsh, warm colors being partially contrasted by the machine girl's silvery blue hair easily communicates to the viewer that the tone of this conceptual manga's story is going to be dark - more so with the machine girl's off-putting pose and the way she looks towards the camera with that single red eye. Even the simplistic title adds to these vibes a lot.

It's like I'm looking at lost media concept art for a story tied to The Animatrix. Good luck on getting this manga out; I'm confident it's going to be great!

NoNthings responds:

Appreciate it dude!

"In space, no one can hear you fall to pieces."

This artwork would look lovely on a t-shirt. I like how the cool colors of the planets in the background contrasts with the unfortunate astronaut's warm-colored organs.

sinnykitt responds:

Aaa thank you so much!! ;o;

I have never heard of this particular fish before, but your translation of it into a character is pretty good, imo. I like that she has an uneven eye placement; a quirk I rarely ever see in most character designs.

She's easily one of those characters who looks awkward at face value, but is one of the sweetest people you'd meet.

Blackonyx6 responds:

OMG!!! YOU READ HER LIKE A BOOK!!!

Also! The uneven eye placement is a feature present on the fish she was based on! Flounders, also known as Flatfish, have two eyes on the same side of their heads, and they swim with their eyeless side on the seafloor, which makes them efficient at camouflaging in the sand!

Another beautifully colorful drawing! It really lives up to the title and then some. And the sparklecat's smile is super adorable; makes me think of Car from Garn47.

DRAGONKITTYiPOD responds:

thank you!! i just looked up that character and i recognized them immediately :D huge compliment

This is a decent mermaid design; the unorthodox tail gives her a strong sithoullette, and the color scheme's efficiently simple to boot. Though I imagine some folks would be a tad weirded out by her cat-like pupils.

(happy belated birthday, btw)

Blackonyx6 responds:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! <3<3<3<3

I'm certain I mention something akin to this in one of my previous reviews, but I cannot help but wonder how you take a bunch a different colors and put them together in a way that still feels charmingly cohesive.

As I write this, my mind's dredging up memories of those kaleidoscope toys I used to look through when I was a kid; I think of those toys as I look more closely at this drawing - it's like there's a hundred or so hidden "details" in the coloring that're easy to miss until you zoom in, and then your eyes start noticing all sorts of these tiny changes in the color's consistency.

It's beautiful.

DRAGONKITTYiPOD responds:

i love kaleidoscopes !! they're so much fun, thank you so much namu <3 your reviews are always highly appreciated and well written !!

"teach me the ways of your ability to cook amazing sonic art like this"

Gonna let my Sonic autism take the wheel: If I were to describe this art piece as if it were a rank in a Modern Sonic game, it would be an S+. It feels like looking at the type of Sonic fanart that SEGA would officially recongize and use as promotional material for Sonic X Shadow Generations - much like the previous piece I saw that included the funny two hedgehogs and Shadow in the same piece.

My favorite part about this art is the attention to detail in the colors between Classic and Modern Sonic; Classic Sonic' lighter hue and the "spray-paint-y" feel to the lighting of his clothes really emphasizes the "classic" in his name. Then with Modern Sonic, his colors are more saturated, and the left leg being almost colorless feels like a subtle nod to the shading of Sonic Riders' artstyle.

And while I didn't mention it in my previous review, I find it stunning that you're able to make Sonic eyecandy for *the* GamesCage. I've only recently heard of the guy, but that is incredible, nonetheless! Super eager to see more Sonic art in the future!! XD

KornArt3 responds:

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS

World's Shiniest Vampire (the shading and lighting makes it look like her skin's super reflective.)

I like that the only bright colors you can see come from the vampire herself; the background being almost completely dark is a neat visual touch to emphasize how vampires enjoy dwelling in the dark.

NoNthings responds:

thanks thanks 🙏 and yes she very shiny

The size difference here is bonkers. I can only imagine what that lone construction worker is feeling as KF walks by them.

And speaking of KF, her presentation in this piece is really good. Having the aforementioned construction worker present for scaling is neat, but the skyscraper in the background *greatly* emphasizes just how large she is. Her expression's cute as well.

Blackonyx6 responds:

THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDEEEE!!! <3<3<3 I'm so glad that her size was emphasized well in this artwork!

Eldritch artist on the spectrum. I make SFW and NSFW art; minors begone.
